Sonia Plotnick Women’s Health Fund College Scholarship

The Sonia Plotnick Women’s Health Fund (SPHF) is committed to offering financial assistance to lesbians studying to obtain a degree in a healthcare or human services-related field. SPHF offers two academic scholarships per year. The purpose of the scholarships is to provide financial assistance to help cover the cost of tuition, fees, books and/or other bona fide college expenses for students attending college or a university.

Applicant Criteria:

  • reside in one of the 5 Tampa Bay counties served by SPHF
  • be enrolled in a healthcare/human services-related field
  • have a 2.0 or higher grade-point average
  • prefer a record of community involvement
  • have a financial need
  • be a woman who self identifies as lesbian

Two students will be awarded $1,000 each annually, distributed in $500 increments dispersed across two semesters. The decision-making process for scholarships is handled exclusively by SPHF. Recipients will be asked to share their bio/ picture with SPHF which will be used on our social media/website and other materials.
