Jessica Bennett – St. Petersburg College Scholarship Winner 2023/2024

I am excited that I’ve been accepted into the Nursing program! It’s been two years of hard work with no summer breaks, but it was absolutely worth it. It feels incredible to take this next step in my life’s journey. I feel like my main purpose in life is to help people and, as a nurse, I’ll be able to fulfill that purpose. In the future, I would really want to work in pediatrics and hopefully in a hospital setting. Something that’s really important to me is proper patient advocacy for LGBTQIA+ youth. I want to create a caring and accepting environment where they are actually listened to and treated without bias or judgment. The world is already cruel enough, and the medical system doesn’t need to add to that. It’s a dangerous time to take on that role, but it’s incredibly important.
