Dental Assistance

* As of April 16,2012 the SPHF  no longer covers any dental repair,any dental/oral surgery or any replacement procedures, such as: crowns, bridges, root canals, fillings, veneers, teeth whitening, implants, periodontal procedures, medication for periodontal disease,  medications for dental surgeries , flouride treatments or false teeth. SPHF will fund 100% of preventative Dental Exams (yearly check ups, cleaning and X-Rays) as funds are available.

LOCAL DENTAL  RESOURCES

University of Florida Dental Clinic   (Providers are graduate dentists – one year residency.)

Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday (Except Holidays)
First visit: $190 – includes full-mouth x-rays, panorex, and full exam.
Fees are 1/3 -1/2 less than private practice fees.  Provides all dental services.
Emergency clinic available in the morning only and you must be in pain. (Note: Go early as they take the first 6 patients.)
Charge of $150 covers one x-ray, exam and simple extraction or start of root-canal treatment.

St. Petersburg College – School of Dental Hygiene

Visits are by appointment only; each session is 3-hours.
One-time fee: $30; includes: bitewings, full exam, cleaning and sealants. (Additional $15 for full mouth x-rays)  Note: If a second appointment is needed to complete the treatment there is no additional charge.

Fee:  $25 includes whatever is done during the first complete visit. This could include any or all, exam, full-mouth x-rays, bitewing x-rays, cleaning, sealants. Dentist determines what x-rays to take and if needed.
$15 for children under 10 years of age.

Tampa Family Health Centers

Emergency walk-in care fee: $43 – $50 exam and x-ray for single tooth. . (Note: Be in line before 7:00 a.m. as they take the first 6 patients.)
Fee:  $108 – 120 for comprehensive dental exam and x-rays.

Services provided to Sarasota County residents only.
You must pick up a new patient packet to be completed by you and your physician before you are seen.
Fees: Sliding scale that is identical to the Public Health Department; proof of income required.  Fees to be paid at time of service with cash or credit cards (no checks).
Services provided include cleanings, x-rays, fillings, extractions, some crowns, dentures and partials.
