3rd Annual Fall Costume Party  and Dance

 The 3rd annual SPHF Costume Party and Dance will be held at the Gulfport Casino on Saturday, October 23rd from 8 pm til midnight. As many of you know, this has become one of the favorite fundraisers for our community over the past few years. It is absolutely amazing how creative the costumes have become which adds to the difficulty in selecting our prize winners. As always, prizes will be awarded for the top three costumes with the first place winner receiving two tickets to the 2011 Sweetheart Dance!

Tickets are just $10 at the door and light snacks will be served and beverages available. Come and enjoy the great time as DJ Kaylee spins all your favorite tunes at the historic Gulfport Casino on the waterfront and takes your requests as we welcome in the cooler weather and enjoy the beautiful view of the beach. 

 SPHF NEEDS YOU!

SPHF is actively recruiting volunteers to assist the Board of Directors with promotion and production of all of our upcoming events, including the dances and the 2011 SPHF Womyn’s  Music Festival (formerly known as the Gulfport Womyn’s Festival). There are many ways you can volunteer including doing things from home, assisting with set up/clean up,  check in of people attending our events, and more. We are currently in need of volunteers for the Fall Costume Party and Dance at the Gulfport Casino on October 23rd, and those who donate a minimum of one hour will get in FREE!

Please remember all SPHF events depend on the generous offers of time and energy provided by our volunteers. We are extremely grateful to those who have donated their time and talents over the past 13 years and are looking forward to working with our new volunteers. Splash Bash was a Smash!

Thanks to everyone who attended the Splash Bash fundraiser at the Flamingo Resort on July 17th.  Thanks to your generosity, SPHF raised over $3500 to provide financial support for women in need of healthcare in your community. Over 300 women enjoyed poolside fun and the music of:

The Sonia Plotnick Health Fund (SPHF) provides financial assistance for healthcare to women and to promote preventative care for women.  The fund is available to all women in need of financial help with their healthcare.  This may include medical, eye care, dental, drug, and mental health costs.  Equal consideration is given to alternative and complimentary treatments.  Preventative care such as screening  mammograms and colonoscopies, dental cleanings, dental  x-rays and well women physicals are funded  at  100 per cent  to encourage women to seek  this care.  Screening is an important tool in preventing disease and disability.

The Sonia Plotnick Health Fund services the Florida counties of Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, and Sarasota. The Sonia Plotnick Health Fund is administrated by an all volunteer board.  We rent no office space or equipment and have no paid employees.  The majority of our funds are reserved for the women who need them.  The board reviews all applications monthly and provides funding based on need and available funds.
